Description

_{Aster's eyes barely registered what they saw before a piercing pain sliced across her torso.

Instinctively, she dropped and curled up, protecting the front of her body in anticipation for an onslaught of attacks.

Time seemed to slow. Aster noticed a bright green light a millisecond before chunks of earth started arcing through the air.

The creature shrieked, objects kept flying, the pain kept pulsing, and it seemed to happen within that one moment.

Then it was quiet. Earth stopped flying. Aster could no longer see the green light.

Her torso was dimly stinging, though blood was pooling underneath her. Perhaps her adrenaline was still up.

Shaking, she uncurled, looked at the green wyngro that laid nearby, who was staring at her with bright green eyes.

Aster drew a shaky breath, the panic high coming down, "We...w-we need to get out of here...!"

The lavender wyngro tugged at the other’s arm, urging him to his feet. Her chest was pulsing with pain now, making her hands shake and tears spring to her eyes.

The big wyngro on the ground groaned and slowly heaved himself up, lifting one paw to wipe at the blood dripping from his nose, “Uhff…”

“C-can you walk…?” Aster was uncomfortably aware of the sensation of blood running down her tummy, but she forced herself not to look--she was sure she’d faint if she looked down.

The other wyngro looked at her, his bright green eyes cutting through the gloom of the forest, “You’re...injured…”

Aster bit her lip and shook her head, “I’ll t-take care of it later...c-can you walk…?” she was aware of the blood staining the grass below.

“It scratched you...bad…” the wyngro told her with a grimace. He pushed himself up, wobbling a bit on unsteady legs.

Aster closed her eyes for a second, trying to block out the searing pain. Wynsiph wasn’t too far, it shouldn’t be too far away. As long as organs weren’t falling out of her body, surely she’d be fine? She hoped she’d be fine. Everything will be fine if she could make it to Wynsiph, just make it to…

“Come on...we gotta go…” Aster huffed, pushing at the other wyngro to urge him to start walking.

He hesitated, prompting a small and frustrated huff from Aster, “Wait…” he looked faintly reluctant, his tail swishing slightly from side to side as if he were mentally debating something.

“Go! D-don’t make me w-wait like this!” Aster snapped, her body beginning to shake with the pain of the wound. The blood was uncomfortably plastering to her belly fur, and the scent of it was starting to become nauseating.

She still feared that...creature might be around someplace. She wasn’t entirely sure what she did to scare it off...if she did scare it off. Was it hiding and now lying in wait? She really, really did not want to stick around and find out. She faintly recalled she had dropped her journal someplace, but the surroundings were starting to blur. Aster could barely see a few feet in front of her.

Oh no, not now...

The green wyngro blinked and turned, walking forward a few steps. Aster stumbled, and fell to one knee.

He looked down at her, ears flattening with disdain. Aster blinked, and blinked again, but the gray closing in wouldn’t go away. Her hands hovered over the grass and leaves feebly, as if she were attempting to locate something.

“Where’s…” Aster sputtered, and the green wyngro saw her eyes roll back and her body lurch forward.

She didn’t even feel the grass.
